AIADMK leader Edappadi K. Palaniswami (EPS) has expressed strong support for the massive voter list cleanup carried out across Tamil Nadu, urging citizens not to panic over deleted names. Speaking to reporters, EPS said the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise is aimed at removing fake, duplicate, and ineligible voters, ensuring a cleaner and more transparent electoral process.
EPS emphasized that genuine voters whose names have been inadvertently removed can easily get them restored by submitting the required forms. “Booth-level party workers will assist people in correcting their details, ensuring no eligible voter is left out,” he added.
Turning his focus on the ruling DMK, EPS accused the party of spreading fear and misinformation about the voter list revisions. “The DMK’s attempts to create confusion will not succeed. The truth will come out soon, and the DMK’s dream will be shattered,” he declared.
He warned that the ruling party cannot benefit from false claims or scare tactics regarding the electoral rolls.
EPS’s comments come in the wake of Tamil Nadu’s draft voter lists revealing the deletion of over 97 lakh names across the state, including 14.25 lakh in Chennai alone. While authorities have assured citizens of a window to verify, correct, or add names, EPS’s statement seeks to reassure voters and reaffirm AIADMK’s stance on electoral transparency.
With Assembly elections approaching in 2026, EPS’s remarks underscore the political sensitivity surrounding voter list revisions, highlighting how parties are closely monitoring the impact on their constituencies.
