Coimbatore, Dec 30: Former Tamil Nadu BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan has said that women in the State continue to live in an insecure environment and stressed the need for urgent political and administrative change.
Speaking to reporters at Coimbatore Airport, she cited incidents in Erode and Karur where women from marginalised communities faced restrictions in public spaces, calling the incidents a reflection of broader societal problems.
Tamilisai criticised the State government for its alleged inaction on women’s safety and social justice issues.
She also highlighted rising public transport costs, including a three‑fold increase in Omni bus fares, saying the burden falls especially on women and marginalised communities.
Tamilisai urged Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to prioritise policies ensuring women’s safety, empowerment, and equitable treatment in education, employment, and public life.
Emphasising that women should be able to live and work without fear, she called for “meaningful change” in Tamil Nadu to create a safer and more inclusive society.
