Washington, Jan 1: US Court Upholds H-1B Visa Fee; Legal Battle Moves to Appeals CourtA US federal judge, appointed during President Obama’s tenure, has ruled that the controversial $100,000 fee on new H-1B visa applications introduced by the Trump administration is legal, delivering a setback to opponents of the hike.
Following the ruling on December 23, the US Chamber of Commerce has filed an appeal in a Washington federal court, challenging the decision and continuing the legal fight against the steep visa cost.
The fee affects foreign workers seeking H-1B visas, a programme widely used by US tech companies to hire skilled professionals from abroad. Despite the judge’s decision, multiple lawsuits are underway and the dispute may ultimately reach the US Supreme Court.
