Senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is on a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu, on Monday offered special prayers and darshan at the renowned Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple in Srirangam, held meetings with senior AIADMK leaders, and participated in the “Modi Pongal Festival” near Tiruchirappalli.Amit Shah was accorded traditional temple honours by the priests during his visit to the Srirangam temple. After the darshan, he met senior AIADMK leader and former Union Minister S.P. Velumani and discussed preparations for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
On the first day of his visit, Amit Shah addressed a massive public meeting in Pudukkottai to mark the conclusion of the BJP Tamil Nadu State Unit President Nainar Nagendran’s “Tamilagam Thalai Nimira Tamilanin Payanam” yatra. Describing the event as a “victory march of the Tamil people,” he said the yatra reflected public support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the resolve to dislodge the “corrupt, oppressive and exploitative” DMK government and form an NDA government in the state.
“The people of Tamil Nadu want a regime change, and NDA is their choice,” Shah said.
