The founder of the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) Dr Ramadoss has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court, challenging the authority of party president Anbumani Ramadoss.
The petition claims that Anbumani has no rights over the party and that any alliance decisions made by him, including talks with the AIADMK, are illegal.
In the petition, the PMK founder emphasized that the party was established by him and therefore rightfully belongs to him. He argued that the recent negotiations with AIADMK for electoral alliances, conducted under Anbumani’s leadership, were done without proper authorization and contravene the party’s founding principles. The legal battle assumes greater significance with elections in Tamilnadu is just three months away.
PMK, founded in 1989 by S. Ramadoss, has been a key player in Tamil Nadu politics, primarily representing the Vanniyar community. Over the years, the party has forged various alliances with both DMK and AIADMK in state and national elections. Anbumani Ramadoss, the son of the founder, has led the party in recent years, steering it through multiple coalition arrangements. The legal challenge now raises questions about the legitimacy of the current leadership and the party’s future political alignments.
The Delhi High Court is expected to hear the matter in the coming weeks, with political observers keeping a close watch on the implications for the upcoming state and national elections.
