The Tamil Nadu Forest Department has announced that the tiger population estimation exercise will begin in the state from January 5, 2026, as part of the All India Tiger Estimation (AITE) — a nationwide survey conducted once every four years to assess the status of tigers, their co-predators, prey species, and habitats.
