Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthran has reiterated that his party is not seeking a share of power with its ally Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s AIADMK if the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) comes to power in the state, appearing to contradict recent statements by Union leader Amit Shah about the alliance forming a coalition government. Speaking to the media in Coimbatore on Thursday, Nagenthran said the BJP’s main objective is to defeat the ruling DMK government in the upcoming assembly election, and not to negotiate for ministerial positions or power sharing. He described the removal of the DMK as the central goal of the party’s campaign work. Nagenthran denied that there is any internal rift within the BJP on the issue and highlighted that senior leaders remain active in party strategy. He also pointed to criticism from some DMK leaders who labelled actor-politician Vijay as the BJP’s “B-team,” saying that Vijay’s repeated criticism of the BJP shows his independence, though he supported the suggestion that Vijay should formally join the NDA. Responding to demonstrations by various public service workers, Nagenthran accused the DMK government of failing to deliver on its promises, asserting that public discontent would translate into votes against the ruling party. His comments come amid ongoing discussions over alliance strategy and leadership roles within the NDA ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu elections. @@@
