Parties belonging to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will stage a statewide protest on March 17 condemning the functioning of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government in Tamil Nadu.
The protest was announced by Edappadi K. Palaniswami, General Secretary of the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). In a statement, he alleged that the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated since the DMK came to power.
He said incidents of crime, violence, drug circulation and attacks on vulnerable people have increased, creating fear among the public. According to him, women are unable to move freely due to rising criminal activities in several parts of the state.
Palaniswami also accused the government led by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin of failing to take effective action despite repeated complaints raised through statements, media interactions and discussions in the Assembly.
The NDA parties, under the leadership of AIADMK, will organise protest demonstrations at revenue district headquarters across Tamil Nadu at 10 am on March 17.
