Washington, Mar 25:
US President Donald Trump spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the escalating crisis in the Middle East, with particular emphasis on the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial maritime route for global energy supplies.
According to officials, including U.S. Ambassador to India Sergio Gor, the leaders addressed the ongoing conflict and underlined the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure for international shipping. This narrow waterway between the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman is a vital chokepoint through which a large share of the world’s oil shipments transit.
Prime Minister Modi described the conversation as a “useful exchange” and reiterated India’s support for de‑escalation and early restoration of peace in the region. He stressed that any disruption in the Strait’s operations is “unacceptable” and highlighted the need for stable and secure access for global commerce.
