Chennai, Apr 2:
DMK leader S. R. Raja has approached a higher court challenging the dismissal of his earlier petition in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case, seeking legal relief and reconsideration of the order.
According to reports, Raja’s plea was previously dismissed by a lower court, prompting him to file a fresh petition contesting the decision. In his appeal, he has argued that the dismissal was not justified and has sought the court’s intervention to set aside the earlier order and allow his petition to be heard on merits.
The case pertains to allegations linked to disproportionate assets, a category of corruption cases where public officials are accused of possessing wealth beyond their known sources of income. Such cases often involve detailed financial scrutiny and prolonged legal proceedings.
Legal sources indicate that the court has taken cognisance of the new petition and is expected to examine the grounds raised by Raja. The development comes at a politically sensitive time, with the Tamil Nadu election atmosphere intensifying and several legal and political issues intersecting.
The matter is likely to proceed through further hearings, with the court expected to decide whether the earlier dismissal should be upheld or reconsidered based on the arguments presented by the petitioner.
