Chennai, Apr 8:
Edappadi K. Palaniswami intensified his election campaign in Saidapet on Tuesday, launching a strong attack on “dynasty politics” and urging voters to bring about a political change in Tamil Nadu.
Addressing a gathering in the constituency, the AIADMK general secretary alleged that the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has been functioning with a family-centric approach, sidelining the needs and aspirations of the common people.
He said governance should be based on merit, transparency, and public welfare rather than being concentrated within a single family.
Palaniswami appealed to voters to use the upcoming Assembly elections as an opportunity to “put an end to succession politics” and restore what he described as accountable and people-oriented administration.
He highlighted AIADMK’s past governance, claiming that the party had focused on development, welfare schemes, and inclusive growth during its tenure.
The AIADMK leader also criticised the state government over issues such as rising cost of living, unemployment, and alleged lack of major development initiatives. He assured that his party would prioritise economic growth, job creation, and infrastructure development if voted back to power.
The campaign in Saidapet witnessed enthusiastic participation from party cadres and supporters, reflecting the heightened political atmosphere as the state heads into the crucial phase of polling.
