Coimbatore, May 21:
BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran on Wednesday dismissed speculations of friction between the BJP and its ally AIADMK, rejecting claims that any lack of coordination led to their defeat in the recent Assembly elections.
Addressing media persons in Coimbatore, Nagenthran said he had received no complaints regarding non-cooperation from the AIADMK. He emphasised that the party is now concentrating on reconnecting with the people and understanding their grievances as part of its next phase of political outreach.
Choosing not to delve into the internal matters of the AIADMK, he stated that the party continues to function under the leadership of its general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami.
Meanwhile, senior BJP leader Tamilisai Soundararajan alleged that the ruling Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government is opposing the Centre’s three-language policy due to pressure from its alliance partners. She also urged Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay to respond to controversial remarks on ‘sanatana dharma’ made by Minister Aadhav Arjuna and MLA V.M.S. Mustafa.
Commenting on the electoral setback faced by the BJP-led alliance, Tamilisai said the defeat should be viewed as a stepping stone for future success. Both leaders participated in a state core committee meeting in Coimbatore, where discussions were held to analyse the reasons behind the party’s performance in the Assembly polls.
Party sources indicated that the meeting also focused on strengthening grassroots-level organisation and improving coordination among alliance partners ahead of future electoral challenges. Leaders stressed the need to expand the party’s presence in key districts and enhance voter engagement through sustained campaigns.
The BJP is expected to roll out a series of public outreach programmes in the coming weeks, with senior leaders likely to tour various parts of the state. The initiative aims to rebuild momentum, address local concerns, and position the party more effectively in the evolving political landscape of Tamil Nadu.
