Veteran actors Urvashi and Jayaram, who have long captivated audiences across Tamil and Malayalam cinema, are set to reunite on screen after more than two decades in director Pandiraj’s upcoming film Parimala and Co. The iconic pair, who have shared screen space in over 25 films, are expected to bring back their trademark chemistry and effortless comic timing.
Speaking about the reunion, Urvashi expressed her excitement, noting that it has been over 20 years since their last substantial collaboration. After Panchatanthiram, the duo only briefly appeared together in the anthology Putham Pudhu Kaalai. “We had many opportunities to work together again, but our interests didn’t align. We were looking for something that would challenge us and present us differently,” she said.
Explaining what made Parimala and Co special, Urvashi highlighted her admiration for Pandiraj’s writing. “I have immense respect for the writer in him. From Pasanga onwards, his films have stood out for their depth and care in storytelling. He takes time to shape his scripts, and that’s what drew me to this project,” she added. She also remarked that the film’s shooting progressed faster than many Malayalam projects she has worked on, despite its quality-focused approach.
Over the years, Urvashi and Jayaram have delivered memorable performances in Malayalam films such as Chakkikotha Chankaran, Malootty, Kadinjool Kalyanam, Marupuram, Mukha Chithram, Koodikazhcha, and Madhuchandralekha, earning a loyal fan base for their natural performances and impeccable comedic timing.
Parimala and Co, slated for release on May 28, also features a strong supporting cast including Mysskin, Yogi Babu, Sandy, Santosh Sobhan, and Tamilkumaran.
The film’s technical crew includes cinematographer George C Williams, music composer Foxn, editor Pradeep E Ragav, and stunt choreographer Kalai Kingson.
With nostalgia, strong performances, and a seasoned creative team, Parimala and Co is poised to be a delightful entertainer that celebrates the much-loved pairing of Urvashi and Jayaram once again.
