Actor Abhirami is gearing up for the release of her upcoming action drama Blast, where she shares screen space with Arjun Sarja and Preity Mukhundhan. Directed by Subash K Raj, the film is set to hit theatres on May 28 and is produced by AGS Entertainment.
Speaking about her experience, Abhirami candidly revealed the physical and technical challenges of performing action sequences. She noted that working on Blast gave her a deeper appreciation for stunt performers. “Only after completing this film did I truly realise how demanding stunt work is. After a few continuous days of shooting action scenes, I even requested the director to give me dialogue-heavy or emotional scenes instead,” she said, highlighting the intensity of the shoot.
Despite the difficulties, the actor described the process as a rewarding learning experience. She explained that extensive training and rehearsals were essential to execute the stunts convincingly. “It may look simple to hit someone on screen, but doing it without actually hurting them is extremely difficult,” she added, underscoring the precision required in action choreography.
Blast also features a strong supporting cast including Vivek Prasanna, John Kokken, Arjun Chidambaram, Pawan, Dileepan, Vinod Sagar, and Bala Hasan R. The film revolves around a seemingly ordinary middle-class family with martial arts skills who find themselves confronting a dangerous gang, leading to intense action-packed moments.
Adding further weight to the project, music is composed by Ravi Basrur, known for his work in the KGF franchise, marking his Tamil debut. The technical crew includes cinematographer Arun Radhakrishnan, editor Pradeep E Ragav, and art director Veeramani Ganesan.
With its blend of family drama and high-octane action, Blast promises to deliver an engaging theatrical experience, while Abhirami’s insights offer a glimpse into the effort and discipline behind its intense stunt sequences.
