Chennai, June 18:
The first session of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly under the new government began on Thursday with the rendition of the Tamil Thai Vazhthu, marking a traditional and ceremonial start to the proceedings.
As per Assembly protocol, all members stood in respect as the Tamil Thai Vazhthu, the State invocation song, was sung at the commencement of the session, reflecting Tamil Nadu’s cultural identity and legislative customs.
Following this, Governor Arlekar arrived at the Assembly Hall and delivered the customary Governor’s address. He reached the Assembly premises shortly before the session began and was received by Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar and Assembly officials.
The Governor then addressed the House, presenting the government’s policy statement and outlining its key priorities and upcoming initiatives. As is the norm, the address was first delivered in English.
