Maruti Suzuki India has launched automatic S-CNG versions of its popular Swift, Dzire and Baleno models under its new ‘Auto Green Mission’, combining automatic driving convenience with fuel efficiency.
The new models are powered by the 1.2-litre Z12E engine with Dual VVT and Idle Start Stop technology, paired with a five-speed Auto Gear Shift (AMT) transmission. The system allows automatic gear changes while also offering manual gear selection without a clutch pedal.
The Swift S-CNG AMT delivers a claimed fuel efficiency of 35.34 km/kg, while the Dzire offers 36.47 km/kg and the Baleno 34.47 km/kg. Maruti Suzuki said the Dzire automatic S-CNG is the most fuel-efficient sedan in India based on the stated figure.
Maruti Suzuki Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Partho Banerjee said the new range was aimed at customers seeking automatic driving convenience without compromising on fuel efficiency, particularly in city traffic.
The company said demand for its S-CNG vehicles has been growing, with sales increasing 58% in the first quarter compared with the corresponding period last year. It also recorded its highest-ever monthly S-CNG sales of 83,000 units in July.
