Moscow, Oct 3:
Russian aerial attacks have disrupted traffic across three bridges spanning the Dnipro River in Kyiv, with officials reporting partial or full closures following attacks on critical infrastructure.
A drone strike hit the Southern Bridge, which was already closed, while two other bridges were also affected. The disruptions caused major traffic congestion as residents attempted to travel between the eastern and western sides of the Ukrainian capital.
Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko described the situation in the city as serious as authorities assessed the risks to transportation and other infrastructure.
The attacks come amid an intensification of Russian aerial strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure. Ukrainian officials have sought additional air-defence systems and interceptor missiles as Russia increases its use of drones and ballistic missiles.
Ukraine has also continued attacks on Russian energy infrastructure, including oil refineries, as the conflict enters another difficult phase ahead of winter.
