Washington: Bruno Mars-led Silk Sonic won two of the big awards at the Grammys 2022 – Record of the Year and Song of the Year for Leave The Door Open.

The group project of Bruno Mars, Brandon Anderson, Christopher Brody Brown, Dernst Emile II also won Best R&B Song as well as Best R&B Performance. Jon Batiste, most nominated this year, won Album of the Year for We Are as well as four other categories. Olivia Rodrigo won Best New Artist and Best Pop Solo Performance. Doja Cat and SZA won their first Grammys – Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for Kiss Me More.

Rock band Foo Fighters won Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Album and Best Rock Song – the Foo Fighters were not at the Grammys this year following the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins; they were meant to perform.

Indian composer Ricky Kej won his second Grammy, Best New Age Album for Divine Tides on which he collaborated with The Police drummer Stewart Copeland.

The host for the 64th Grammy Awards was Trevor Noah, hosting for the second year in a row. The Grammys were meant to be held in January and were postponed because of a spike in COVID numbers due to the Omicron variant.

Rahman, who arrived at the ceremony with his son, AR Ameen, took to his Twitter handle and posted a few images, live from the grand event.

The musician could be seen wearing an abstract-printed yellow and brown coloured blazer, while his son donned a full-sleeved multicoloured shirt and paired it with classic black trousers and silver shoes.

In one of the pictures, Rahman could be seen smiling for a selfie while seated beside his son at the Grammys ceremony, whereas in another one he along with his son could be seen gracing the red carpet of the event.

For the unnerved, the notable musician has previously won two Grammy awards, both for ‘Slumdog Millionaire’. He won the Best Compilation Soundtrack Album for motion picture, television or other visual media and Best Song written for motion picture television or other visual media (‘Jai Ho’).

During the 2022 Grammys, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy delivered a pre-recorded speech amid the ongoing Russian military operation in his country.

The video, which served as an introduction to John Legend’s live performance of ‘Free’ as part of a special tribute to Ukraine, had been filmed 48 hours prior to the event in a bunker in Kyiv.

The special performance had been introduced by the show’s host Trevor Noah, who said, “Even in the darkest times, music has the power to lift spirits and give you hope for a brighter tomorrow.

There’s nobody who could use a little hope right now more than the people of Ukraine. The war. What’s more opposite to music? asked the Ukrainian president while appearing on the Grammys telecast. He went on to an extended explanation of how war silences music and music can end war.

He continued, Our loved ones don’t know if we will be together again. The war doesn’t let us choose who survives and who stays in eternal silence. Our musicians wear body armour instead of tuxedos. They sing to the wounded. In hospitals.’

Bruno Mars-led Silk Sonic won two of the big awards at the Grammys 2022 - Record of the Year and Song of the Year for Leave The Door Open.
