Chief Minister MK Stalin inaugurated and laid the foundation for various projects under the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department, worth a combined total of over Rs 233 crore, via video conference.During the event, CM Stalin formally inaugurated 27 completed projects with a total value of Rs 42.75 crore. These include improvements in infrastructure at 15 temples across Tamil Nadu. Noteworthy projects include:
Renovation of the road leading to the Marudhamalai Murugan Temple in Coimbatore, costing Rs 4.35 crore.
Construction of new halls for the Mariyamman Temple in Samayapuram, Tiruchy, at a cost of Rs 4.63 crore.
A new marriage hall at the Sivaloganathar Temple in Thirupungur, Mayiladuthurai district, valued at Rs 3.2 crore.
A similar hall at the Renugambal Temple in Tiruvannamalai, constructed at a cost of Rs 3.65 crore.
Other projects included commercial complexes, parking facilities, and enhanced infrastructure at various temple sites, as well as improvements to zonal joint commissioners’ offices in Nagapattinam and Salem.
Chief Minister Stalin also laid the foundation stones for 29 new projects worth Rs 190.40 crore. These projects aim to enhance temple infrastructure and administrative facilities in districts such as Madurai, Tiruvannamalai, Trichy, Coimbatore, Nagapattinam, Tiruppur, Thiruvallur, Erode, Dindigul, and Chennai.
The plans include the construction of new zonal offices in Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Kanniyakumari, and Krishnagiri. These infrastructure developments are expected to further modernize and support temple operations and related services across the state.
In addition to the temple projects, CM Stalin laid the foundation for a significant cultural project: a memorial for the renowned Sangam-era poet Avvaiyar. The memorial, to be built in Thulasiyapattinam village near Vedaranyam, is set to cost approximately Rs 19 crore and aims to honor the literary and cultural contributions of the celebrated poet.
