Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai took part in a protest in Koduvai, Tiruppur district, demanding justice for a triple murder case that shocked the region.The incident involved the brutal murder of Deivasigamani (78), his wife Alamelu (75), and their son Senthilkumar on November 29, 2024, in Semalaigoundampalayam near Pongalur. Despite the formation of 14 special teams, the culprits remain at large, sparking outrage.
Demand for CBI Investigation
Addressing the gathering, Annamalai said, “I wrote to Chief Minister Stalin on behalf of the BJP, requesting the case to be handed over to the CBI. However, the DMK government revoked the permission for central investigative agencies to operate in Tamil Nadu after the Enforcement Directorate took action against Senthil Balaji. This has hampered investigations in critical cases.”
He criticized the government’s inability to arrest the culprits, stating, “When criminals are not apprehended, they lose fear of the law and commit crimes more boldly.”
Concerns About Police Resource Shortage
Annamalai highlighted the challenges faced by the Tamil Nadu police, citing inadequate staffing and infrastructure. “No recruitment for sub-inspectors and constables was conducted in 2023-24. This has caused significant shortages in police stations, affecting patrolling and response times. Complaints often take 4-5 hours to be registered due to lack of personnel,” he remarked.
He also noted an increase in violent crimes, including murders with sharp weapons, and questioned the reluctance to transfer such cases to the CBI. “During previous regimes, even a single murder would be handed over to the CBI. Here, three people have been murdered, yet no action has been taken,” he said.
Criticism of the DMK Government
Annamalai accused DMK-affiliated individuals of being involved in 125 major crimes since the party came to power, claiming that a detailed report was submitted to the Governor. He also questioned the Chief Ministerās commitment to public welfare, asking, “Is the Chief Minister truly a leader for the people?”
Self-Discipline for Reform
Expressing his determination, Annamalai said, “I am ready to self-discipline as much as needed to reform the state. My criticism of the police is not personal; they are forced to work with their hands tied. If the government fails to act, we will hold them accountable.”
He also vowed to remove the DMK government through democratic means, stating, “We will not resort to throwing shoes. Even if it takes years, we will ensure this government is ousted through rightful actions.”
Annamalai concluded by reiterating his call for a CBI investigation into the case and pledged to continue fighting for justice.
