Actor-producer Vishnu Vishal, following the success of his psychological thriller “Aaryan,” has made a strong appeal to his fellow actors to consider reducing their remuneration. Speaking at a Thanksgiving meet for the film, Vishal highlighted that lower actor salaries would allow filmmakers to allocate more resources toward the actual making of films.
MHis suggestion aligns with the growing dialogue among producers and directors about balancing remuneration and production budgets to ensure better quality films and commercial success.Vishnu Vishal pointed out that his stance is not a directive for producers but a call for actors and artistes to be mindful of their pay demands.
This perspective has been welcomed by industry insiders, with director-producer S P Sakthivel endorsing the call for much-needed change in the Tamil film industry.
Vishnu Vishal’s dual role as lead actor and producer in “Aaryan” has given him first-hand experience of production challenges, reinforcing his argument that controlled remuneration can help creators invest more in other aspects of filmmaking.
Aaryan, which began screening on October 31 is a successful psycho thriller featuring Vishnu Vishal as a police officer alongside actors like Selvaraghavan and Shraddha Srinath. The film has recently seen a revised, shortened climax to enhance viewer engagement. Vishnu Vishal’s suggestion comes at a time when the Tamil film industry is actively debating sustainable production budgets while maintaining high standards in storytelling and film production.
