On the occasion of International Mother Language Day, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin and actor-politician Kamal Haasan extended heartfelt greetings, celebrating the richness and emotional depth of the Tamil language.In his message, Chief Minister Stalin hailed Tamil as a timeless and powerful classical language, calling upon people to preserve and promote it with pride. Emphasising the cultural and historical significance of Tamil, he urged Tamils across the world to safeguard their mother tongue and pass it on to future generations. His message echoed a strong sense of identity and linguistic pride, with a call for Tamil to flourish forever.
Kamal Haasan, in a deeply personal note, described his mother tongue as something that lives within him. He said Tamil is not merely a language but an inseparable part of his body and soul — one that surfaces in his thoughts, emotions and expressions. Reflecting on how Tamil has shaped his life, he portrayed it as his breath and inner voice, extending his wishes to all on the special day.
International Mother Language Day is observed annually on February 21 to promote linguistic diversity and encourage the preservation of native languages across the world.
