Chennai, Apr 3:
Chief Minister and DMK president M. K. Stalin on Thursday took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, claiming that his repeated visits to Tamil Nadu during election season would only strengthen the DMK’s chances in the upcoming Assembly polls.
Addressing a campaign meeting in Coimbatore, Stalin said Modi’s visits were largely confined to election periods and recalled that during the 2024 Lok Sabha polls, the DMK-led alliance secured a sweeping victory. He expressed confidence that similar visits this time would help the alliance achieve its target of winning 200 seats.
Stalin also remarked that each visit by Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah would further increase the DMK alliance’s margin of victory.
In a lighter vein, he quipped that former Governor R. N. Ravi had earlier acted as an inadvertent campaigner for the party.
Criticising BJP leaders, Stalin accused them of displaying selective affection for Tamil language and culture during visits, while allegedly undermining it otherwise.
