Chennai, June 12:
DMK leader Udhayanidhi Stalin on Thursday launched a strong attack on the ruling TVK government over allegations of sexual assault involving a woman in Srivaikuntam, questioning Chief Minister Vijay’s commitment to women’s safety in Tamil Nadu.
In a post on X, Udhayanidhi alleged that the victim was lured on the promise of a job by individuals close to Srivaikuntam MLA Saravanan and subsequently assaulted. He further claimed that the victim had accused the MLA of attempting to broker a compromise by involving Minister N. Anand and assuring her employment.
Udhayanidhi also stated that the victim had alleged that another woman was similarly affected and that certain ministers were aware of the matter. He raised concerns over claims that the accused suggested the issue was known to higher authorities within the ruling party.
Accusing the government of attempting to suppress the case, Udhayanidhi said no action had been taken against the accused, while the victim was allegedly expelled from the party. Referring to Vijay’s earlier remarks expressing concern over crimes against women, he questioned the government’s response in this case.
Calling for immediate action, Udhayanidhi demanded the removal of MLA Saravanan and urged the government to ensure justice for the victim.
