Chennai, July 1:

To manage the expected surge in passenger traffic during the upcoming weekend and ongoing holiday season, the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) has announced the operation of 1,475 special buses in addition to its regular services from July 3 to July 5.

According to the State Express Transport Corporation (SETC), a total of 775 special buses will be operated from Chennai on Friday and Saturday. Of these, a significant number will depart from Kilambakkam Bus Terminus, with 410 buses scheduled on Friday and 290 on Saturday, connecting major destinations such as Tiruvannamalai, Tiruchy, Madurai, Coimbatore, Salem, and Tirunelveli.

In addition, Koyambedu Bus Terminus will operate 55 special buses on both days to destinations including Tiruvannamalai, Nagapattinam, Velankanni, Hosur, and Bengaluru. Another 20 buses will be operated from Madhavaram Bus Terminus to further ease passenger movement.

To accommodate travellers from neighbouring states, around 200 special buses will also be run from cities such as Bengaluru, Tirupur, Erode, and Coimbatore. For the return journey, 445 special buses will be operated on Sunday from various parts of Tamil Nadu back to Chennai and Bengaluru.

Transport officials have stated that thousands of passengers have already reserved tickets for the weekend, with numbers expected to increase further as the travel dates approach. Passengers are advised to book their tickets in advance through the TNSTC website or mobile application to avoid last-minute inconvenience and ensure a smooth journey.
