Tough times ahead for Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackersy as State Minister and senior party leader Eknath Shinde has reportedly moved to a hotel in Gujarat’s Surat with several party MLAs. He is not ‘reachable’.
Reports say that apparently unhappy with events unfolding within the party, Eknath Shinde chose to rebel against Uddhav and left to Surai in BJP-ruled Gujarat along with his supporters. He along with 12 more MLAs are unreachable.
Eknath Shinde is a popular leader in Shiv Sena party. He was named Leader of the Opposition in Maharashtra Assembly in 2014 after the Shiv Sena parted ways with the BJP. When the Maha Vikas Aghadi government was formed, he was appointed cabinet minister for Urban Development and Public Works.
Remember the results of the Maharashtra legislative council elections yesterday have put the Uddhav Thackeray government in a danger zone. The BJP has bagged 134 votes against the majority of 145 in 288 members of the state Assembly.
Following the MLC poll results, Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena president ddhav Thackeray, suspecting cross-voting, convened an urgent meeting of all party MLAs on Tuesday. All the party MLAs have been asked to remain present. Around 20 MLAs are suspected to have cross-voted.
