Ayodhya is in the midst of fervent preparations for the monumental consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla at the grand temple, an event today anticipated to draw thousands of guests, including esteemed VIPs and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The architectural masterpiece of the temple, conceived by Ashish Sompura three decades ago, stands as a testament to the renowned Sompura family’s legacy. This family, distinguished for designing over 100 temples globally, including the revered Somnath Temple, has brought its expertise to the heart of Ayodhya.
Constructed entirely of stones, the temple proudly boasts a design free of iron or steel, reflecting a commitment to ancient building traditions. The sacred foundation incorporates soil from 2587 regions, a symbolic gathering of elements from across the nation, including Jhansi, Bithoori, Haldighati, Yamunotri, Chittorgarh, Golden Temple, and others. This amalgamation mirrors the cultural richness and diversity of India.
The bricks used in the temple’s construction bear the sacred inscription ‘Shri Ram,’ echoing an ancient tradition reminiscent of the building of Ram Setu, further infusing the structure with historical and spiritual significance.
In a remarkable gesture of international spiritual unity, soil from Thailand has been sent for the consecration ceremony on January 22, 2024, symbolizing the global resonance of this historic event.
Spread across three floors and covering an expansive 2.7 acres, the temple is a living tribute to Lord Ram’s life. The ground floor narrates the epic journey of Lord Ram, while the first floor immerses visitors in the grandeur of Lord Ram’s Darbaar, crafted with exquisite Bansi Paharpur pink sandstone.
With dimensions measuring 360 ft in length, 235 ft in width, and reaching a majestic height of 161 ft, the temple stands as a testament to architectural grandeur. Twelve intricately designed gates welcome devotees and visitors alike, adding to the symbolic significance of the number associated with Lord Ram.
As Ayodhya prepares for this momentous occasion, the grandeur and cultural richness embodied in the temple promise to make it an enduring symbol of devotion and architectural excellence.
