Chennai, Jan 26: In the aftermath of Cyclone Michaung, a calamitous road collapse occurred on December 4, impacting a section of the construction site of Green Tech Structural Construction on Five Furlong Road in Velachery. Despite the passage of a month since the accident, the road remains unrepaired, posing significant challenges and inconvenience to the residents and commuters in the area.
The collapse not only resulted in the blockage of an essential road connecting various parts of the city but also left behind a substantial hole, now filled with approximately 40 feet of water. This has become a major impediment for school and college students, as well as working individuals who rely on this route for their daily routines.
Residents living in proximity to the site are expressing growing concerns about the prolonged disruption. The road closure has not only impacted their daily activities but has also raised worries about safety and accessibility. The lack of swift action from the government has intensified the frustration of those directly affected.
Despite a filed case regarding the accident being resolved, there has been no visible progress in terms of road repairs. The unresolved situation and the difficulties faced by the people are urging authorities to prioritize the restoration of this vital roadway.
Local residents are appealing to the government to expedite the repair process and ensure the safety of the road. As the situation persists, there is a growing call for urgent attention to this matter, emphasizing the importance of prompt action to alleviate the challenges faced by Velachery residents. The continued inconvenience highlights the necessity for coordinated efforts to address infrastructure issues promptly in the aftermath of natural disasters.
