The State unit BJP president K Annamalai declared on Monday that the Lok Sabha elections could be notified anytime after February 29. Addressing a gathering at the launch of the Tamil Nadu BJP parliamentary election head office in Aminjikarai, Annamalai predicted that the Model Code of Conduct might come into effect in March, with a possibility of holding the elections in the second or third week of April.
Expressing optimism about the BJP’s prospects, Annamalai asserted that the saffron party is emerging as a formidable alternative force in the state. He emphasized the noticeable growth of the party and urged party cadre to intensify their efforts in preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
“People are noticing our growth. We are on the verge of victory. But cadre should keep in mind that time is running out. I plead them to double up poll works for the next 75 days,” Annamalai said, rallying the party members to focus on a robust campaign in the lead-up to the elections.
In a bid to revive the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu, Annamalai revealed ongoing discussions with the GK Vasan-led Tamil Maanila Congress. He anticipated a clearer picture of potential alliances with the BJP to emerge before the end of the month, signaling the party’s intent to build coalitions for electoral success.
To add further momentum to the BJP’s campaign, Annamalai announced the scheduled visit of BJP national president JP Nadda to Chennai on February 11. Nadda is expected to participate in a public meeting, emphasizing the significance of the state in the party’s electoral strategy.
