Tamil Nadu Health Minister M Subramanian has issued an update on the state’s precautions against monkeypox, confirming that there have been zero reported cases of the virus so far. Despite this, the state government is taking proactive measures to prevent any potential outbreak.The Health Minister highlighted that passengers arriving at major airports in Chennai, Coimbatore, Trichy, and Madurai are being thoroughly screened for symptoms of monkeypox. These precautionary steps are part of the government’s broader strategy to ensure public safety and contain the virus should it emerge in the state.
Minister Subramanian assured the public that if any individual is found to be infected with monkeypox, they will be immediately admitted to a hospital for isolation and treatment. He emphasized the state’s readiness to handle any cases and urged citizens to remain vigilant while continuing their daily activities.
The minister’s announcement comes as part of Tamil Nadu’s ongoing efforts to safeguard public health, following similar preventive measures implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic.
