Actress Kasthuri has filed an anticipatory bail petition at the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court following cases filed against her for alleged defamatory remarks about the Telugu-speaking community. The petition is scheduled to be heard tomorrow. On November 3, an event was held near Raja Rathinam Stadium in Chennai’s Egmore, organized by Arjun Sampath of the Hindu Makkal Katchi, advocating for the enactment of a special law to protect Brahmins. In response, Telugu organizations lodged complaints at the offices of the Chennai and Madurai Police Commissioners, demanding legal action against the actress. Subsequently, cases were registered at the Egmore Police Station in Chennai and the Thirunagar Police Station in Madurai.
With police seeking to take further action, Kasthuri filed for anticipatory bail today (November 11). The petition is set to be heard by Justice Anand Venkatesh tomorrow. Notably, Kasthuri has since issued an apology, stating, “It was not my intention to offend the Telugu community, and I retract my statement.”
