Acclaimed filmmaker Ram returns to the big screen with Parandhu Po, a heartwarming Tamil feature film set for theatrical release on July 4, backed by Romeo Pictures, Jio Studios, GKS Productions, Seven Seas, and Seven Hills Productions. The film promises a touching cinematic journey celebrating familial bonds, emotional healing, and rediscovering childlike wonder.Parandhu Po stars Mirchi Shiva, Grace Antony, Master Mithun Riyan, Anjali, Aju Varghese, and Vijay Yesudas, with a special musical surprise from actor Siddharth, who has sung one of the tracks. The story delves into the emotional reconciliation between a father and his son, while exploring deeper connections within a family through humor and poignant moments.
At the recent press meet, Jet Krishnakutty, Regional Head of Jio Studios, said, “When Ram narrated the story, I instantly connected with it. This film has emotional depth and wide appeal across the country.”
Director Ram shared that Parandhu Po is a deeply personal film. “It’s about ordinary people and extraordinary emotions. Originally, Yuvan Shankar Raja was considered for music, but due to his schedule and the scale of the soundtrack, we brought in Santhosh Narayanan, who delivered a phenomenal score.”
Lead actor Mirchi Shiva expressed that the role was a turning point in his career. “Ram sir helped me explore a completely different side of my acting. I’m thankful for this opportunity.”
Actress Grace Antony said the role was a mix of emotion and comedy. “It was a great learning experience working with Shiva sir and under Ram sir’s direction.”
Santhosh Narayanan, the film’s composer, created nearly 20 songs for the project. “Working with Ram sir taught me a whole new perspective on sound and cinema,” he said.
Lyricist Madhan Karky contributed 25 songs, with 19 featured in the film. One of them, sung by Siddharth, is described as a sweet surprise. Notably, this film marks Karky’s 1000th song, a significant career milestone. He shared that the film explores “an emotional triangle between a brother, his wife, and a child,” blending subtle humor with powerful emotions.
Actor Siddharth praised the film’s honesty. “Ram sir is a master storyteller. This film is light-hearted yet emotionally deep. Families will love it.”
Producer Arun Viswa recalled how Ram predicted his transition from assistant director to producer: “He told me I’d produce before I directed — and here I am.”
The event saw heartfelt messages from renowned filmmakers like Kalaipuli S. Thanu, Mari Selvaraj, Mysskin, Suresh Kamatchi, Meera Kathiravan, and Ranjith Jayakodi.
Mari Selvaraj called Parandhu Po “a festival for families,” while Mysskin, in a lighter moment, joked that he now receives so many invites he might start charging ₹5 lakhs per appearance — but emphasized that Parandhu Po truly deserves the attention.
Director Meera Kathiravan said, “After watching the film, I wanted to take my kids on a trip. It reminds all parents to reconnect with their children — a message that feels even more important after the pandemic.”
Producer Suresh Kamatchi added, “I couldn’t sleep for two days after watching Ram’s Peranbu. Parandhu Po is equally touching. I wish Shiva and the team great success.”
In his closing remarks, Director Ram said, “I’m a simple man, just like my characters — flawed, yet full of feeling. This film is for those who find beauty in life’s small, ordinary moments. I hope viewers see a piece of themselves in it.”
