Tamil Nadu Governor R.N. Ravi on Monday hoisted the National Flag during the 77th Republic Day celebrations held at Marina Beach, Chennai, marking the national occasion with solemnity and patriotic fervour.The event took place near the Labour Statue on Kamarajar Salai, where a large gathering of citizens and officials assembled to witness the flag-hoisting ceremony. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin was present at the venue and welcomed the Governor by presenting him with a bouquet of flowers before the ceremony began.
At around 8 a.m., in the presence of Stalin, Governor Ravi unfurled the tricolour, and the gathering paid tribute to the flag by standing for the national anthem. The celebrations in the city were part of Republic Day events held across the country to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution on January 26, 1950.
The State’s Republic Day event in Chennai featured dignitaries from various walks of life, including government officials and members of the public, reaffirming the spirit of unity and national pride.
Republic Day ceremonies traditionally include the flag-hoisting, followed by patriotic programmes, cultural displays and tributes to the Constitution and its values of justice, liberty and equality.
