On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day of India, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Monday extended warm greetings to the people, urging them to celebrate the nation’s cultural diversity and unity.
In his Republic Day message, Stalin highlighted India’s pluralistic character, saying the country’s strength lies not in uniformity but in its diversity of languages, cultures, faiths and traditions. He said every language, community and cultural practice in India is distinct and must be respected, and that when citizens live with self-respect, confidence and freedom, the nation rises together as one. Stalin described India’s diversity as a heritage to be cherished and protected, calling on the people to honour the multifaceted identity of the nation.
Stalin’s message came as the State and the country celebrated Republic Day with flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programmes. In Chennai, the national flag was unfurled in the presence of Governor R.N. Ravi and Stalin at the Marina Beach Republic Day event, marking the official celebrations.
Republic Day is celebrated nationwide to commemorate the adoption of the Indian Constitution on January 26, 1950, reinforcing the values of democracy, liberty and justice enshrined in the Constitution. Leaders across political parties and regions have been extending their greetings to citizens, emphasising national unity and progress on this significant day.
