Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin reiterated the government’s development philosophy on February 6, 2026, saying the Dravidian model means inaugurating completed mega-projects and laying the foundation for new ones every single day. At an event organised by the state’s industry, investment and trade department at the Tamil Nadu Secretariat, he highlighted this approach as central to the government’s governance strategy.
The Chief Minister virtually inaugurated a Mitsubishi Electric production plant in Kummidipoondi, set up with an investment of ₹2,091 crore and expected to generate 2,104 jobs in air-conditioning and compressor manufacturing. He noted that the project, first agreed under an MoU in 2023, now reflects the Dravidian model’s emphasis on delivering tangible benefits and employment opportunities.
Stalin’s remarks come amid a broader push by the Tamil Nadu government to both complete major infrastructure and civic works and to initiate new ones statewide. In recent weeks, the administration has inaugurated and laid foundations for various water, sewage, transport and urban development projects, underscoring sustained activity in public works.
