The Chennai Meteorological Centre has forecast light rainfall in parts of Tamil Nadu until March 5 due to a lower-level atmospheric circulation prevailing over South India.
According to the weather department, districts along the Western Ghats — including the Nilgiris, Coimbatore and Theni — are likely to receive light rain at isolated places between February 28 and March 5. The disturbance is expected to bring mild showers mainly to hilly regions.
In contrast, most other districts across Tamil Nadu, as well as Puducherry and Karaikal, are expected to experience generally dry weather conditions during this period. No significant rainfall activity has been predicted for the plains.
In Chennai and its suburbs, the sky is likely to remain partly cloudy. Light mist may occur at isolated locations during the early morning hours, particularly in coastal and low-lying areas.
The department has also indicated the possibility of light mist over a few coastal districts on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Motorists and early commuters have been advised to exercise caution due to reduced visibility.
Residents in hill districts are advised to stay updated with local weather advisories, especially if planning travel in the coming days.
