Chennai, June 18:
The first Assembly session of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) government, led by Chief Minister Vijay, commenced today at 10 am with the Governor’s address.
Tamil Nadu Governor Arlekar arrived at the Assembly around 9:55 am and was received by Speaker J. C. D. Prabhakar and Assembly Secretary. Following his arrival, the House proceedings began with the Governor delivering the official address prepared by the government.
This marks the first Assembly session after the TVK government proved its majority in the House during the confidence vote held on May 13, where 144 MLAs supported Chief Minister Vijay. The Assembly had been adjourned without a fixed date after the trust vote.
With today’s session, legislative proceedings formally resume under the new government, setting the stage for policy discussions and administrative decisions in the coming days.
