Tamil Nadu Tourism is embarking on an innovative initiative to launch high-tech virtual tours designed to promote the state’s rich cultural heritage and boost revenue generation. A senior official from the department revealed that this project aims to provide significant economic benefits, create job opportunities, and foster cultural exchange by targeting global audiences through advanced technological access.
The virtual tours will showcase a mix of popular and lesser-known destinations across Tamil Nadu, including historical sites like Sankagiri Fort, Thiruparankundram, and Sadras Dutch Fort, as well as natural wonders such as Hogenakkal Waterfalls and Kolli Hills. Other featured locations include the Padmanabhapuram Palace, Pichavaram, Dhanushkodi, Jallikattu sites, and Yercaud, offering a comprehensive view of the state’s diverse attractions.
To enhance the user experience, the virtual tours will incorporate cutting-edge technologies such as 360-degree videos, high-resolution 4k-8k visuals, 3D holographic guides, AI integration, and aerial route maps. An expert committee will ensure the accuracy and quality of the content, making it a reliable resource for virtual travelers.
The project is expected to launch in February next year, providing an exciting opportunity for tourists worldwide to explore the beauty and cultural richness of Tamil Nadu from the comfort of their homes. By leveraging technology in tourism, the initiative aims to position Tamil Nadu as a leading destination in the digital age, attracting visitors and enhancing the state’s reputation for heritage tourism.
