Chennai, June 23:
India is set to significantly expand its high-speed rail network with seven proposed new bullet train corridors, aiming to transform intercity travel with faster, more efficient connectivity.
Among the key routes under consideration are the Chennai–Bengaluru and Chennai–Hyderabad corridors, which are expected to greatly reduce travel time between these major economic hubs.
The expansion is part of India’s broader push to modernise its railway infrastructure, building on the model of high-speed rail systems seen globally. Once implemented, these corridors could cut travel time between cities to just a few hours, boosting business, tourism, and regional development.
The proposed network is also expected to enhance connectivity across key urban centres, making long-distance travel faster, more reliable, and more convenient for passengers.
