At an event in Kolathur, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin addressed recent political developments, indirectly criticizing new political entrants who, he stated, aspire to defeat the DMK. This comment was perceived as a veiled reference to actor Vijay, who recently launched his own political outfit, the Tamil Nadu Victory Party (TVK). In response, TVK’s spokesperson issued a counter-statement.Actor Vijay formally launched the Tamil Nadu Victory Party and held its inaugural state conference in Villupuram on October 27. During the event, Vijay delivered a speech with pointed criticism against the ruling DMK government. He labeled the BJP as an ideological opponent but emphasized that DMK was their principal political adversary. Vijay criticized the DMK’s “Dravidian model,” accusing it of deceiving people with empty promises and calling it a self-serving rule. “These leaders hide behind a Dravidian label to exploit Tamil Nadu,” Vijay stated.
In response to Vijay’s criticisms, many DMK members reacted, though senior leaders refrained from making direct statements. Today, while attending an event in Kolathur, Chief Minister Stalin indirectly addressed Vijay’s remarks. Speaking at an event organized by the Anita Achievers Academy, Stalin hinted at new political entrants aiming to disrupt the DMK’s trajectory.
Chief Minister Stalin’s Statement: “Today, several newcomers are forming political parties, each hoping for the DMK’s downfall. They speak of removing us from power, but we do not need to waste time or energy responding to such statements. I have no time for such distractions. Like our leader Anna, I say to them: ‘Let those who want to boast, boast.’ Our focus remains on serving the people who entrusted us with this responsibility,” Stalin remarked.
Though he did not mention Vijay directly, political observers viewed this as a rebuttal to Vijay’s criticism. In response, TVK spokesperson Veera Vigneshwaran issued a counter-statement directed at CM Stalin.
TVK’s Response: “People across Tamil Nadu regard Vijay as a brother, a son, and a member of their family. To them, he is someone close to their hearts. For the Chief Minister to use dismissive language about our leader is unfortunate and inappropriate. This kind of approach toward political rivals is embedded in the DMK’s style, as evident in CM Stalin’s recent remarks. The DMK has a history of undermining political opposition in Tamil Nadu to maintain its family-led governance.
“Back in the 1970s, MGR fought against this very family-based rule, and he succeeded in dismantling it. We believe that history will repeat itself. In the 2026 elections, we are confident that this family rule will end, and Vijay will establish a democratic governance for Tamil Nadu,” Vigneshwaran asserted.
With both sides firm in their stances, the exchange reflects a significant political showdown as Vijay’s entry adds a fresh dynamic to Tamil Nadu’s political landscape ahead of the 2026 state elections.
