Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin emphasized the need to create a society free of crimes rather than merely reducing them. He made this statement during a ceremony held in Chennai yesterday, where appointment orders were distributed to newly selected police personnel.
Through the Tamil Nadu Uniformed Services Recruitment Board, 3,359 individuals have been selected as Grade II constables for the Police, Prisons, and Fire Departments.
Distributing the appointment orders, CM Stalin addressed the new recruits:
“Becoming a police officer requires determination, hard work, rigorous training, and success in competitive exams. Out of lakhs of aspirants, you have been chosen as 3,359 selected candidates. Your journey ahead holds immense responsibilities.”
The Chief Minister stressed that maintaining law and order and preventing crimes should be the primary goal of every officer. He highlighted the growing challenges of cybercrimes, drug eradication, and crimes against women and children, urging the recruits to prepare themselves to tackle these issues effectively.
“Claiming that crimes have reduced is not an achievement. The real success lies in creating a society where no crimes occur. That should be your mission,” he asserted.
He also encouraged the recruits to maintain their zeal and the pride of wearing the police uniform throughout their careers. “Your service should bring pride not just to you but to the entire state of Tamil Nadu,” he concluded.
The event was attended by Chief Secretary Shiv Das Meena, Home Secretary Dheeraj Kumar, and DGP Shankar Jiwal, among other dignitaries.
