Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has strongly opposed the proposed parliamentary constituency delimitation based on population, stating that it would severely impact the state’s self-respect, social justice, and welfare schemes. He reaffirmed that Tamil Nadu will fight against the move and emerge victorious.
In a video message shared on social media, CM Stalin urged his party members and the people of Tamil Nadu to resist the proposed changes.
CM Stalin emphasized that the restructuring of parliamentary constituencies poses a serious threat to Tamil Nadu’s autonomy and welfare programs. He pointed out that states like Karnataka, Punjab, and Telangana have already extended their support to Tamil Nadu on this issue.
“The central government claims it is not imposing Hindi, yet it continues to take steps in that direction. Our state has refused to accept the three-language policy, and as a result, we have not received the rightful funds allocated to us,” Stalin said.
He further argued that the delimitation plan is unfair to southern states that have effectively controlled their population growth. While the central government claims it will not reduce Tamil Nadu’s parliamentary seats, it has not guaranteed that northern states will not gain additional seats, which could lead to an imbalance in political representation.
