Accuses CM Stalin of Double Standard in Addressing Cleanliness Workers’ DemandChennai, August 16 — PMK President Anbumani Ramadoss lambasted Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin today, branding the government’s engagement with striking cleanliness workers as a calculated “diversionary bid” to mask oppressive actions.
Speaking to the media, Anbumani questioned the authenticity of the Chief Minister’s outreach, referring to it as a superficial gesture disguised under the guise of worker welfare. “Now, he is disguising himself as the protector of the workers. It is condemnable that the Chief Sinister is taking a double standard on the issue pertaining to the people of the lower strata. The demands of the workers are simple and fair,” he stated sharply.

The protest, involving cleanliness workers who have been striking for 12 days, is driven by their demand for permanent jobs and an end to privatisation. Anbumani highlighted their long tenure of over a decade in service and criticized the state government for prioritising contracts with private firms over their concerns. “As the Chief Minister considers handing over Rs 2,300 crore to the private firm to conduct conservancy works in two zones is more important, but he does not fulfil the demands of the workers,” he alleged.

According to Anbumani, the Chief Minister’s recent announcement of schemes is a smokescreen to obscure the government’s hardline stance against the protesting workforce. He accused Stalin of using political optics to distract from unresolved issues and ongoing suppression of worker demands.
