Coimbatore, Apr 16:
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar on Wednesday expressed confidence that the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance would secure a two-thirds majority in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly.
Campaigning in Coimbatore for the DMK-Congress alliance, the senior Congress leader said the ruling front had effectively reached all sections of society through its governance and welfare measures.
“DMK and this alliance have taken along every section of the society. In the last five years, the government has done a very good job. Under M. K. Stalin’s leadership, I think it will be a cakewalk. With a two-thirds majority, the alliance will win,” he said.
Shivakumar’s remarks come amid intensified campaigning across the State, with national and regional leaders stepping up efforts ahead of the Assembly polls.
The DMK-led alliance has been projecting its governance record and welfare schemes as key electoral planks, while the Opposition continues to target it on issues of law and order and governance.
