Chennai, Apr 27: Chennai Metro Rail Limited has rolled out a new balance check feature for commuters using the National Common Mobility Card (NCMC), also known as the Singara Chennai Card, enhancing convenience and transparency in daily travel.
With the latest update, passengers will receive an SMS after every swipe, detailing the fare deducted and the remaining card balance. Earlier, commuters had no direct way to track their balance, often leading to inconvenience at entry gates.
The move has been widely welcomed by regular users, who say the feature makes it easier to manage travel expenses and avoid last-minute issues due to low balance.
Commuters are now looking forward to further upgrades, particularly the introduction of online recharge for NCMC cards, which would enable a fully digital system and reduce the need to queue at ticket counters.
