In a significant administrative move, the Greater Chennai Police has ordered the transfer of 34 police inspectors across various police stations and departments in Chennai. The order was issued by Chennai Police Commissioner A. Arun as part of a broader effort to strengthen law and order management and improve operational efficiency within the city police force.
According to the official notification, inspectors serving in crime wings, law and order units, intelligence divisions, and women police stations have been reassigned to new roles. The reshuffle is intended to optimise manpower deployment and enhance policing across different zones of the city.
Among the key transfers, Rohini, who was serving as Inspector at Koyambedu All Women Police Station, has been posted to Shastri Nagar Police Station (Law and Order). Rajeshkannan, who had been on the waiting list, has been appointed as Inspector at Vannarapettai Police Station (Law and Order).
Similarly, Kalaichelvi, also from the waiting list, has been posted to the Anti-Goonda Operations Wing, a specialised unit dealing with habitual offenders and organised criminal activities.
Several inspectors from crime divisions have also been moved to law and order roles across the city. Srinivasan has been transferred from Kilpauk Police Station (Crime) to Periamet Police Station (Law and Order). Ravichandran has been shifted from Saidapet Police Station (Crime) to Vepery Police Station (Law and Order).
Meanwhile, Kannan has been moved from Triplicane Police Station (Crime) to Vadapalani Police Station (Law and Order), while Ranjith Kumar has been transferred from Egmore Police Station (Crime) to Royapettah Police Station (Law and Order).
Police officials said the reshuffle forms part of routine administrative measures aimed at strengthening policing, improving coordination, and ensuring effective law enforcement across Chennai.
